ABOUT US
INSTITUTIONAL PRESENTATION
Judith Isabel de Melo Teodoro Monteiro, I was born in São Miguel on July 1, 1969, in the municipality of Ribeira Grande. I studied at the Antero de Quental Secondary School and graduated in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon in 1992.
I have been a member of the Portuguese Bar Association since October 1994. I started my career at Banco Português de Investimento in Lisbon. When I returned to the Azores in 1994, I joined the staff of Banco Comercial dos Açores, which was acquired by Banco Banif SA.
In 1999, I set up my law firm, which currently consists of myself and lawyers Fernando Cabral, Raquel Soares, Beatriz Costa (solicitor) and Fabiana Nicolau (management and accounting). We are a bilingual team.
I am a foreign legal consultant for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and am therefore qualified to provide legal advice on Portuguese law.
I have had a strong presence in our community through my collaborations with the newspapers Portuguese Time (New England), Voz de Portugal (Montreal), Correio dos Açores (Ponta Delgada) and, more recently, with the Portuguese Tribune (California).
On a weekly basis, I contribute legal pieces to radio stations WJFD (New England), Radio Centre-Ville (Montreal) and CIRV FM (Toronto). Likewise, I collaborate with legal articles on the Portuguese Channel (New England) and FPTV (Montreal, Toronto and Mannitoba).
Over the past 15 years, I have given information sessions and lectures at the Houses of the Azores on the subject of Portuguese law, located in Montreal, Toronto, Fall River and Bermuda.
